Deborah just returned from three weeks of ministry in Costa Rica and Colombia. It was a powerful and profound time of diverse ministry that included teaching for a week in a Rhema Bible school, preaching in local churches, ministering to a team who is translating the Bible into Spanish sign language, teaching in a home church, ministering at a city-wide meeting for women in leadership, and guest-speaking at a weekly Bible study group. Wow, what an array of Holy Spirit appointments!!
This was Deborah’s first time to both countries, with doors opened by our friends and FMIN partners Gary and Elena Meador who are Directors of Rhema--Costa Rica. Deborah taught in their Bible School the first week, spending most of her time teaching on “Servant Leadership--The Jesus Model.” The students were very receptive and excited to recognize the difference between the way Jesus led and the way we have often taught according to current control and domination models.
Deborah’s highlights from her time in Colombia are too numerous to mention in this short update; however there are a couple that need to be communicated. She taught at a weekly Bible Study in Bogotá where the Spirit of God moved mightily in demonstrations of power and prophecy. People received freedom from long standing oppression and the gift of prophecy was in operation to edify and encourage.
Her ministry to women in leadership was ground-breaking as she revealed how the church often enforces the curse in the Garden of Eden by keeping women out of their God-ordained roles within the church. She brought forth the revelation of the New Covenant perspective of women being equal partners in the gospel and in helping to lead the church into the fullness of Christ.
God glorified himself in several healings and deliverances during her time there. One woman received healing when a tumor dissolved and all pain left. Many people reported pain leaving, and one woman received healing from a fatal kidney condition, deliverance from accompanying fear of death, and salvation! Praise the Lord!
