DMI ministers in response to Isaiah 61:1, "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound."

Brazil

Ministering to God’s Own
“It was for this that I brought you here,” was what I heard the Lord say to me when a certain man came up for prayer at the next church. He had arranged for me to minister in a particular church, specifically to minister to one of His own that was in distress. It always humbles me to see the lengths that God will go to in order to arrange divine appointments for His people! The Lord had been dealing with this man for two years to accept the call into full-time ministry and he would not, but God refused to give up on him. After a short time of counseling and ministry, he accepted his call, and I anointed him with oil and consecrated him in prayer to the Lord’s purposes for his life!

There were many other wonderful things that happened in that church, too.  In fact, the pastor testified later that he believed revival had begun in his church that night. One twelve year-old youth came and embraced me with strong emotion after the service and said, “Don’t ever forget that because you have come to Brazil, I am saved.”

Believers Desperately in Need of Teaching
In yet another church in a different city, I was taken aback when the pastor asked me to bring a message that would help break the peoples’ fear of “the bad month” of August. The church was in a very impoverished area, both spiritually and financially, and the people were heavily oppressed and strongly superstitious. They are so desperately in need of teaching. That was further confirmed to me when the pastor shook his head and said to me, “Even my most dedicated believers are all living in defeat.” It reminded me of the scripture that says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).

I was grieved to learn that some churches give out “special” salt for the people to throw over their shoulders to keep bad luck away.  2Cor. 6:14-17 says,

“…for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?  And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said,‘I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing.’”

As believers, we are to put our trust and confidence in God and shun all superstitious dependence on anything other than Him to influence and guide and prosper us.

Raising Up “Deborahs”
The crowning glory of the trip was the women’s conference in Petropolis, a beautiful and historic city in the mountains above Rio de Janeiro.  The conference was titled “Women Chosen by God,” and claimed the profound objective of raising up “Deborahs” after the order of Deborah, the prophetess and judge of Israel as recorded in the Book of Judges.  You can imagine how that was near and dear to my heart! Oh, what a time we had in the power of the Word, prophecy, impartation, healing, deliverance and the joy of shared vision!
